Monviert

Monviert is a love story between the family behind the winery and the surrounding area, Friuli Colli Orientali
Monviert was founded back in 1950. The winery was first established under the name Ronchi San Giuseppe, but they later chose to change the name to Monviert, as this name better suited the area where they come from.
An area known for producing some of the very best white wine in Italy.

Monviert

Azienda Agricola Monviert is a family-owned winery. The winery was established shortly after World War II under the name Ronchi San Guiseppe, but generations of family winemakers go back even further. Today, several generations of the Zorzettig family are passionately involved in every aspect of production - from field to bottle. Monviert's winery in Cividale del Friuli is state-of-the-art and the philosophy behind the entire production is based on a great respect for nature and the area. In 2013, Monviert built a plant that processes all organic material from the vineyards into energy and makes them 100% self-sufficient with, among other things, hot water for the entire production. A sustainability mindset that is also practiced in their vineyards. The wines at Monviert all exude a delicate purity and a very clear grape expression. The base wines exude a union of the character of the area and the typicity of the grape. Here you can really talk about value-for-money wines! The Riserva versions are wines with enormous depth, character and long ageing potential. Wines that express the terrior of the area in the finest way.

Friuli Venezia Giulia Area

Friuli Venezia Giulia - or more commonly Friuli - is, along with Alto Adige and Trentino, the most important region for the production of top white wine in Italy. That's not to say that good red wine can't be made here - it absolutely can, but it's the white wine that has given the region its reputation. Friuli is located in the northeastern corner of the boot country north of Venice. Bordering Slovenia to the west and the Austrian Alps to the north and influenced by cool winds from the Adriatic, this Cool Climate area is perfect for the production of crisp, acid-firm and terrior-influenced wines. The area has 4 DOCGs and 10 DOCs and wine is grown on 28,500 hectares. Friuli is known for a diversity of grape varieties. The best known green grapes are Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvazia and Picolit. The best known blue grapes are Schioppettino, Merlot, Pínot Nero, Refosco and Cabernet Franc. Monviert is located high in the hills west of Udinese in the Colli Orientali del Friuli area. Here, wine production can be traced back to the time of the ancient Romans. The warm winds from the Adriatic Sea balance the cool alpine temperatures and make the area perfect for growing grapes with high aroma and firm acid structure. The soil is characterized by marl, sand and clay, allowing for a wide range of grape varieties to be grown.

Monviert Vineyards

The name Monviert pays homage to the small church, dating back to 1522, which stands at the top of the hill overlooking the vineyard's 87 hectares of land and offers a clear, "open" view of the Colli Orientali.
