Om vinen

Monviert, Ribolla Gialla 2018 has a beautiful, deep golden color. The bouquet has nuances of hazelnut, flowers and herbs. The taste is rich and deep at the same time, with an almost ocean-fresh elegance. A wine that spans a wide range and really shows Ribolla Gialla’s potential. Ribolla Gialla is Friuli’s great hope when it comes to getting a signature grape that can characterize the area. Like what Silvaner means to Franconia in Germany or Albariño in Rias Baixas in Spain.
Ribolla Gialla is an incredibly versatile grape. It has been cultivated in Friuli since the 14th century and is today considered part of the region’s cultural heritage. It ranges from the most delicate and fresh wines, to barrel aged and full-bodied types, to funky orange wines vinified in amphorae. The spectrum is broad and many winemakers are experimenting and playing with the grape, with some amazing results.
Monvierts Ribolla Gialla Riserva is no exception. A single vineyard Ribolla Gialla from the Bivio Romanut field. The field is less than 1 ha. and the old vines dig deep into the marl and sandy soil, producing grapes with weight and character.

The grapes are first destemmed and then crushed, and after cooling to 5-7°C, they are placed in special maceration tanks for 12-24 hours (cryomaceration). The grapes are then gently pressed and the must settles before alcoholic fermentation begins. The wine ferments in a controlled manner at cool temperatures of 18-19°C. After approximately 10-12 days of alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks for a period of 5-6 months with regular bâtonnage.
Due to the 12-24 hours of skin contact during maceration, the wine has a beautiful, deep golden color. The bouquet has nuances of hazelnut, flowers and herbs. The taste is rich and deep at the same time, with an almost ocean-fresh elegance. A wine with a wide range and really shows the potential of Ribolla Gialla.

Monviert is a love story between the family behind the winery and the surrounding area, Friuli Colli Orientali, an area known for producing some of the very best white wine in Italy. Monviert was founded back in 1950. The winery was first established under the name Ronchi San Giuseppe, but they later chose to change the name to Monviert, as this name better suited the area where they come from. The people behind
The family behind Monviert has lived in Friuli since time immemorial, working the land with the same passion and care since the end of World War II. The vineyards
The name Monviert pays homage to the small church, dating back to 1522, which stands at the top of the hill overlooking the vineyard’s 87 hectares of land and offers a clear, “open” view of the Colli Orientali.

Once a place of worship and comfort for pilgrims, the family has restored the area and turned it into a symbol of cultural wine heritage that they will continue to preserve. Located between the Julian Alps, which protect them from the cold northern winds, and the Adriatic Sea, which brings them the warmth of the Mediterranean breeze, Colli Orientali del Friuli has an ideal microclimate for the production of red and especially white wines.
