Domaine Garon

The history of the Garon family dates back to 1475. Garon is located in Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte Rôtie, a domain that has been transformed from generation to generation. Today, the same family still cultivates and owns the famous lands and wines of Garon. At Garon, Syrah and Viognier are kings. Côte-Rôtie Côte-Rôtie is the northernmost part of the Northern Rhône. The Rhône here faces south, so the vineyards are oriented to the southeast. Exciting steep slopes (up to 60%) catch every ray of sunshine. The mistral from the Alps also has to round the corner here, blowing cooling air into the vineyards. The epicenter of Côte-Rôtie is the village of Ampuis. North of Ampuis, the soil contains more clay and is therefore called brown. The strongest wines are made here. South of Ampuis, the soil is slate with almost no clay, this soil is called blond. Between the syrah is often also a little viognier (max 10%). Both grapes are picked together and fermented. The viognier adds a drop of apricot jam to the wine.
