Jeb Dunnuck - A master of wine

Jeb Dunnuck is an acclaimed American wine critic who originally began his career in the wine world by writing about Rhône wines on his own blog in 2008. He later worked for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, where he covered Rhône, Bordeaux, California and Washington State. In 2017, he left Wine Advocate to start his own platform, JebDunnuck.com, where he continues to review wines.   Dunnuck is particularly known for his detailed knowledge of Rhône wines, both northern and southern, but he also specializes in wines from California and Bordeaux. His strengths lie in his ability to describe wines with precision and depth, making his reviews both informative for wine enthusiasts and valuable for producers. His style is often more accessible than some of the more technical wine reviewers, which has made him popular with a wider group of wine lovers

Scale and assessment method

Jeb Dunnuck uses a 100-point scale, which is standard in wine reviews, especially in the US. Here is a general overview of his scale:   95-100 points: Exceptional wine with great complexity, structure and finesse. It represents the pinnacle of winemaking. 90-94 points: Excellent wine that shows high quality and drinking pleasure. 85-89 points: A good to very good wine, often more simple or easier to drink. 80-84 points: Acceptable wine, but without anything particularly noteworthy. His ratings are based on a wine's quality, balance, complexity, length, and potential for aging

Why does he use this scale?

The 100-point system is widely recognized and understood by wine enthusiasts and merchants alike. It provides an easy way to communicate quality, and for Jeb Dunnuck it means he can rank wines objectively based on a range of technical criteria, while making the reviews accessible to a wide audience. The scale helps consumers navigate the vast array of wines and make informed choices
