About the wine

Tassi Franci Brunello di Montalcino 2015 DOCG. Only 1500 bottles of this vintage have been made and it goes without saying that this vintage from Tassi is already gone. Deep ruby color in the glass. Wonderful and complex with notes of spice, red cherry, plum and violets with undertones of coffee and cedar. It seems youthful and juicy with lots of fruit. Tight tannins and a sleek acidity, keeping it in the cellar for at least another 4-6 years will only add further complexity to the wine.

Tassi rhymes with Montalcino and everything it stands for.
Tassi doesn’t just limit himself to making wine, Fabio Tassi also runs the restaurant Locanda Franci, but is best known for his wine shop Enoteca la Fortezza, which represents what the Montalcino area can do with wine.
A legendary wine shop that any Brunello enthusiast must visit, the shop is located within the old fortress walls that surround the town of Montalcino.
Tassi has been making wine for many years and it is with a love and finesse for wine that makes Tassi wine something special.
Tassi follows the old traditions with respect, they hand-pick the grapes and generally use manual craftsmanship.
There is a focus on converting to organic production and out of that foresight have come two Brunellos, Tassi and Franci.
Tassi has densely planted vines of the Sangiovese grape on the south side and the wine from here has finesse and elegance.
It is fresh and fruity – a classic Brunello.
Franci, also on the south side, is planted with about 40-year-old vines and less densely planted for a more traditional Brunello, but more complex and refined.
Their Riversa only comes in very limited quantities, around a few thousand bottles and only from the best vintages.
They also produce Rosso di Montalcino and IGT.
