Peter Sisseck is a winemaker who has taken the wine world by storm with his incredible creations at Dominio De Pingus. Known for their complexity, depth and elegance, his wines have become some of the most coveted bottles in the world. Sisseck’s journey to becoming a winemaker was not typical. Born in Denmark, he studied agronomy and enology in Bordeaux before working at various wineries around the world. It wasn’t until he stumbled upon a small winery in Ribera del Duero, Spain that he found his true calling. At Dominio De Pingus, Sisseck focuses on producing small quantities of high-quality wine using traditional methods. He believes in minimal intervention, letting the grapes speak for themselves and expressing the region’s unique terroir. One of Sisseck’s most famous wines is Pingus, a blend of Tempranillo grapes aged for 18-22 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is known for its intense aromas of black fruit, spice and leather, with a silky texture and long finish.
But Sisseck’s success has not come without challenges. In 2014, a hailstorm destroyed much of his vineyard and forced him to start over. But he persevered, replanted the vines and continued to produce exceptional wines. Today, Sisseck is considered one of the greatest winemakers in the world, with his wines achieving top prices at auctions and being served in some of the finest restaurants around the world. His dedication to quality and passion for winemaking has made him an icon in the industry, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of winemakers.
