Domaine Pierre Ravaut

Ravaut dates back to 1897, but it wasn’t until 1920 that Ravaut began making its own wine for commercial use and from there, wine became the main source of income for the family. Until then, the area was characterized by general agriculture and small vineyards for their own use.
Together with his son Pierre, Ravaut developed and built the Domain throughout the 1950s with a focus on understanding terroir and developing vinification. Even back then, Ravaut produced a 1ér Cru under the name Ladoix.

Domaine Pierre Ravaut

Ravaut dates back to 1897, but it wasn't until 1920 that Ravaut started making its own wine for commercial use and from there, wine became the main source of income for the family. Until then, the area was characterized by general agriculture and small vineyards for their own use. Together with his son Pierre, Ravaut developed and built the Domain throughout the 1950s, focusing on understanding the terroir and developing the vinification. Even back then, Ravaut produced a 1ér Cru under the name Ladoix. Pierre took over the Domain in the 1970s and the vineyard grew from 25 hectares to the 45 hectares owned today, still with focus and respect for the individual terroir. Ravaut does not produce biodynamically but they still follow the principles in a general understanding of spraying as little as possible and letting the wine speak its own language. Domaine Ravaut produces 60,000 - 80,000 thousand bottles of both red and white every year.
