About the wine

Vietti Castiglione Barolo 2017 DOCG can do something even in a reasonably warm year, super ripe and explosive, distinctive berry notes like cherry, blackberry, plum and rose petals. And then you meet a wall of tannin, the way Nebbiolo does. It just needs time to gather, then it plays perfectly with its fruit, herbs, leather and tobacco. 30 months in barrel can be tasted after all. A powerful wine that doesn’t disappoint.

Producers Vietti

Vietti is located in Piedmont in the Langhe region near the town of Castiglione and was founded by Carlo Vietti. Vietti produces a variety of wines in Piedmont including 5 different Barbera wines and 6 different Barolo wines, but became particularly known for producing wine from the Arneis grape which is a white grape comparable to Viognier. A wine that is still produced today in limited quantities. You can’t mention Vietti without mentioning Alfredo Currado, who married Luciana Vietti in the 1960s. It was he who, to a large extent, made Vietti what it is today through his stubborn interest in the vinification of the Arneis grape and revolutionary thinking about wine production in general. More than 4 generations of Vietti have established its name as a major producer in Piedmont to this day. When the winery was bought by Krause Holding in 2016, the continued development was ensured by adding a number of crus and although Krause Holding is now the owner of Vietti, Luca and Elena Vietti are still in charge of running the winery.
