About the wine

Vietti, Castiglione Barolo 2015 DOCG is a premium Italian red wine made from the Nebbiolo grape. This full-bodied wine has a ruby red color with notes of red fruit, licorice and rose petals on the nose. On the palate, Vietti Castiglione Barolo 2015 DOCG is complex with flavors of cherry, tobacco and spice, along with structured tannins and a long finish. Vietti Castiglione Barolo 2015 DOCG pairs well with hearty meat dishes and aged cheeses. It is a wine that can be aged for many years to come. Vietti produces a variety of wines in Piedmont including 5 different Barbera wines and 6 different Barolo wines, but became particularly known for producing wine from the Arneis grape which is a white grape comparable to Viognier. A wine that is still produced today in limited quantities.

Producers Vietti

Vietti is located in Piedmont in the Langhe region near the town of Castiglione and was founded by Carlo Vietti. Vietti produces a variety of wines in Piedmont including 5 different Barbera wines and 6 different Barolo wines, but became particularly known for producing wine from the Arneis grape which is a white grape comparable to Viognier. A wine that is still produced today in limited quantities. You can’t mention Vietti without mentioning Alfredo Currado, who married Luciana Vietti in the 1960s. It was he who, to a large extent, made Vietti what it is today through his stubborn interest in the vinification of the Arneis grape and revolutionary thinking about wine production in general. More than 4 generations of Vietti have established its name as a major producer in Piedmont to this day. When the winery was bought by Krause Holding in 2016, the continued development was ensured by adding a number of crus and although Krause Holding is now the owner of Vietti, Luca and Elena Vietti are still in charge of running the winery.
