Vaccaro is located in Sicily just outside the village of Salapurata. The Vaccaro family cultivates 45 hectares with both Italian and international grape varieties. The winery
Azienda Vaccaro is located in Sicily right in the heart of the toe of the Italian boot. The foundation of the winery was laid back in the 1970s when Giacomo Vaccaro and his wife Catherina bought a small country house just outside the small village of Salapurata. A few years earlier, in 1968, the area had experienced a massive earthquake that leveled large parts of the existing farms. And as seen so many times before, beautiful things sprout from the rubble left behind by the events of the past. Vaccaro is just such a sprout. In 1999, the sprout blossomed and the Vaccaro winery was born as an established winery. The people behind
The winery is a family business owned by Giacomo and Catherina Vaccaro. Their children Catia and Carmelo participate in the work at the winery. Catia has a degree in economics and an interest in art and takes care of the finances, while Carmelo studied oenology (the art of wine production) and is involved in the entire process of making Vaccaro wines. The family lives their life in harmony with the surrounding nature, producing some of the most beautiful wines the Salapurata area has to offer. The vineyards
The Vaccaro family runs 45 hectares of vineyards idyllically situated in the gentle hills of the Belice Valley. Here they grow native grape varieties such as Catarratto, Grecanico, Inzolia, Grillo and Nero D’avola. They also grow some of the most recognized international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The grapes ripen to perfection in the warm southern Italian climate and the finesse of the grapes is developed by the cool breezes that arise from the sea during the evening hours. The perfect conditions for grapes to produce elegant wines with great structure and richness accompanied by complex flavor palettes and fresh expressions.
