In Côte de Nuits near Brochon, we have Domaine Cluny’s Gevrey Chambertin plot planted with Pinot Noir in soil consisting of clay and sandstone. 0.4 ha. is not much, but the vines are up to 80 years old, which is also the designation “Vieilles Vignes”. Beautiful ruby color in the glass, and on the nose, you immediately notice cherries, raspberries, and lots of freshness and minerality. Oak notes, coffee, and spices. Soft tannins and a good acidity, very intense and full-bodied. Good persistent flavor, a wine in fine balance.
