Tasting box, Poggerino – Chianti
One of the most recognized Chianti producers is Poggerino and here you have 4 varieties from this fantastic house in Chianti Italy. Poggerino’s 12 hectares of vineyards are located on southwestern slopes at an altitude of 400-500 meters. The soil on the estate’s terroir is extremely well-draining and mineral-rich due to the local “galestro” soil, a type of shale that characterizes certain areas in Tuscany. The soil creates perfect conditions for growing Sangiovese, ensuring a balance between fruit and tannins.

About the wine
Tasting box, Poggerino – Chianti
Poggerino’s Chianti Classico (N)uovo: is, as the label indicates, made in cement eggs. It is becoming more and more common for wines to be aged in a cement egg rather than in oak barrels. The cement egg helps to give the wine a more pure Sangiovese expression, where the characteristics of the grape are also emphasized. Poggerino, Toscana Rosato Aurora 2022: is a full-bodied summer rosé made from Sangiovese. The rosé wine is fresh and fruity with a pleasant depth. Poggerino, Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla 2019 DOCG: comes from the winery’s best located vineyard called Bugialla. When Piero took over wine production from his parents, the vineyard was planted with olive trees. Piero quickly saw a huge potential in the vineyard and in 1973 he planted Sangiovese vines instead of olive trees. Poggerino, Chianti Classico 2022 DOCG: is the flagship of their range: Despite being a very young wine, a 2022 vintage, it already feels incredibly well balanced and ready to drink. Therefore, there is no need to store the wine, but you can easily drink it now.
