About the wine

Meursault “Éclat de Calcaire” 2022 comes with a vibrant nose of citrus fruits, bright pear and crisp green apple, accompanied by a subtle butteriness. On the palate, the wine is energetic with high minerality and a lively acidity that provides a refreshing and persistent finish. “Éclat de Calcaire”, which translates to “flash of limestone”, is a tribute to the unique soil of Meursault. The wine is a blend of grapes from some of Meursault’s most recognized lieux-dits: “Grands Charrons”, “Limozin”, “Sous La Velle”, “Tillets” and “Vireuils”. The vines have an average age of 40 years, which contributes to the complexity and depth of the wine.

The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a natural fermentation without the addition of cultured yeast. The wine is fermented and aged in a combination of 456 liter and 228 liter oak barrels, allowing a subtle integration of wood notes without dominating the fruit. This approach ensures that the wine retains its minerality and freshness while developing a rich texture. Although approachable and inviting in its youth, the wine has the potential to develop further complexity over the next 3 to 12 years under optimal aging conditions.
