Louis Roederer, Cristal 2008 – Champagne

Louis Roederer Cristal was originally produced for the Russian Tsar in 1876 onwards. It is composed of Grand Cru wine from Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Cótes des Blancs. A very small production with high demand makes the wine incredibly difficult to obtain and thus naturally puts the price of the Champagne at the high end.

About the wine

Louis Roederer, Cristal 2008 – Champagne

“This latest incarnation of the famous brand is a superb wine. It is on par with, maybe even better than, the already legendary 2002. Its balance is impeccable: Apple and citrus flavors working with the tight minerality to give a textured yet fruity wine. Produced from Roederer’s own vineyards which are mainly biodynamic, the wine has its own intense purity and crispness. It has amazing potential and is likely to age for many years. Drink from 2020”

Today, Frédéric Rouzaud and cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon produce the wines according to the old traditions. All the wines are fermented separately in steel tanks, while the reserve wine is aged in oak barrels. The house’s Prestige project is their Cristal. The wine is therefore only produced in the best vintages.
