About the wine

This exquisite Brunello is characterized by sophistication and complexity. 2015 and 2016 were both stellar vintages at Le Gode, so expectations for 2019, which was supposed to be just as good, were huge. Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli 2019 DOCG is a testament to the excellence of this 2019. The color is rich, deep and beautiful ruby red, with a stunning cap of red-orange along the edge of the glass. The aroma is inviting and pleasant, and you are almost drawn deeper into the wine on first impression. The nose has enormous complexity where leather, warm spices, sandalwood and tobacco mingle with a deep intense fruit sweetness filled with sweet ripe cherries, forest berries and rose potpourri. The taste is initially velvety and feathery. It is driven by a palette of ripe red berries and fruits that are elegantly and aggressively replaced by powerful tannins and hugely complex notes of warm spices, stunning minerality and extremely well-balanced acidity.

Producers

Le Gode is located on the world-famous Montosoli hill, which is said to be the very best growing area in the Brunello di Montalcino district. It has been in the hands of the same family since 1960. They produced their first Brunello di Montalcino in 1995. Their entire vineyard lies within the Brunello border, which means that their Rosso di Montalcino is also made with grapes from this highly sought-after area. In total, they produce around 20,000 bottles a year, divided between Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli. The winery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology at the service of a traditional production philosophy.
