About the wine
Saint-Romain is located in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy and is known for its high-altitude vineyards, which produce wines with a particular freshness and minerality. The appellation is often overlooked in favor of more famous neighbors like Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, but Saint-Romain has its own charm and unique character. The vineyards of Saint-Romain are located on slopes up to 400 meters above sea level, resulting in cooler temperatures and longer ripening times. The soils are primarily limestone and marl, which contribute to the wine’s signature minerality and fine structure. 2018 was a year of ideal growing conditions, with warm days and cool nights ensuring perfectly ripe grapes with good acidity. On the nose, Saint-Romain 2018 offers an elegant bouquet of citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit, complemented by green apples and subtle white flowers. Notes of toasted nut and wet stone add depth and testify to its limestone terroir. In the mouth, the wine is harmoniously balanced between freshness and richness. Citrus aromas are joined by ripe pear, a hint of acacia honey and an underlying minerality. The acidity is lively and structured, giving a clean and focused flavor experience. The finish is long and refined, with a slightly salty note that is inviting.
