Producers Fontanavecchia

Fontanavecchia is located in the Campania region in the province of Benevento. Here the family cultivates 18 hectares of mainly local grapes from the area. All the wines are made according to the winemaking traditions of the region and have always told a story of patient work dedicated to an unwavering goal: excellence!

That’s why every step of production, from the care of the vineyard to the harvest to the bottling phase, is carried out with passion, careful attention and utmost respect for the vines, the wine and the people involved. The ultimate goal is to achieve excellent results for each variety, to reflect its identity and character. The winery
The historic wine cellars of Fontanavecchia: a temple dedicated to wine, to the hard work of man, to the enchantment of the slow and delicate rhythms that have intertwined the life of a family of winegrowers for generations. The winery has been owned by the Rillo family from day one back in the 19th century and after both restoration and expansion, it remains today one of the most important and historic winemaking facilities in all of Southern Italy. The people behind
The winery is owned and operated by Libero Rillo, with additional help and experience from both his father Orazio and his brother Giuseppe. The family has dedicated a lifetime of love and commitment to the cultivation of the vines, to the memory of its origins and to the care of the land. Since its origins, this family has been highly skilled in managing the work in its own vineyards, in processing the extraordinary fruit that comes out of it and in bottling the precious wine under its own label. The winery’s oenologist is the highly experienced Emiliano Falsini, who has extensive experience from many different wineries throughout Italy – including Massimo Lentsch. History
Telling the origin of Fontanavecchia is like telling the story of Torrecuso and its people. An ancient record mentions that the excellent wine from this area was already being produced more than 160 years ago by the hands of the winegrowers of the Rillo family. They called them attentive caretakers of the vines and guardians of the ancient traditions of the magical city of Benevento. The history of the winemakers of Fontanavecchia is inextricably linked to the Samnium region and its wines: Falanghina and Aglianico del Taburno. These two precious grape varieties have come back into fashion thanks to the constant efforts of the Rillo family and today are known worldwide; it is a story of ancient traditions and bold visions of the future, of passion, daily work and innovation. This has set the Fontanavecchia winery apart as one of the most important and historic wine producers in the entire Samnium region.
