“Chiara Boschis has recently purchased several vineyards in the Mosconi cru located at a cool 370 meters altitude in Monforte d’Alba. With its fruit from an organic 1.9 hectare parcel, the 2018 Barolo Mosconi is available in a slightly larger production of 9,000 bottles.

The winery only vinifies the grapes supplied by the estate vineyards, around 2 1/2 hectares, located in some of the best zones of the Barolo area: 2 hectares in the Cannubi and Cannubi San Lorenzo locality, the rest in the Via Nuova locality (Collina Terlo) the zone best known for the Nebbiolo grape that becomes Barolo.

Producenten

E. Pira & Figli is one of the oldest and most respected winemakers in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Founded in 1880 by Luigi Pira, the winery has gone through generations of dedication and expertise in producing some of Italy’s finest wines.

Located in the famous Barolo wine region, E. Pira & Figli is known for their outstanding Barolo wines made from the Nebbiolo grape. This grape variety naturally thrives in the climate and soil of Piedmont and expresses its full potential in the hands of skilled winemakers like E. Pira & Figli.

The winery first became truly famous under the leadership of Chiara Boschis, who took over the management of the winery in the 1980s. Chiara was a pioneer in Barolo production and one of the first female winemakers in the area. Her visionary approach and passion for quality led to E. Pira & Figli being recognized as one of Piedmont’s leading producers.

E. Pira & Figli wines are known for their complexity, elegance and ability to age beautifully. Their Barolo wines typically reflect the terroir of the region with deep aromas of red fruits, flowers and earthy undertones. These wines are often structured with well-balanced tannins, giving them an impressive ability to evolve over time.

In addition to their famous Barolo production, E. Pira & Figli also produce other wines including Barbera d’Alba and Dolcetto d’Alba, which also showcase the winery’s commitment to creating high quality and characterful wines across different grape varieties.
