Bosco del Gaio, derived from the Lombard word “Gahagi” meaning forbidden or reserved land, is located halfway up the San Salvatore hill overlooking the south. This forest has always been a great source of wealth for the local community who find wood, game and delicious fruit here. The beautiful grove, bordering crops and vineyards, was reserved for the lords of the castle. Count Rambaldo VIII already hunted here and the berries, mushrooms and delicious chestnuts that adorned the castle banquets were gathered from this forest.
