About the wine

Château Lafite Rothschild, Premier Cru Classe Pauillac 2016 has a deep ruby red color with subtle purple reflections that testify to its youth and potential for long-term aging. The aroma is intense and inviting with a complexity that only grows with time in the glass. It opens with elegant notes of blackcurrant and blueberry, followed by a touch of violets for a floral finesse. After some time in the glass, subtle layers of graphite, cedar and tobacco emerge – characteristics so typical of Pauillac wines and especially Château Lafite Rothschild. The mineral undertones anchor the nose in the terroir and contribute to the depth of the wine. On the palate, Château Lafite Rothschild 2016 impresses with a perfect balance of ripe dark fruit and structured tannins. Blackcurrant, blackberry and a hint of plum dominate the palate, while spicy nuances and a hint of smoke add complexity to the experience. The tannins are silky smooth but firm enough to ensure the wine can evolve over the next decades. The acidity provides a vital freshness that makes the taste lively and refined. The finish is long and lingering, with mineral and spicy notes that linger long after the glass is emptied.
