Producers Bodegas Godelia

The Godelia winery is located in a unique landscape and winemaking environment in Bierzo in northwestern Spain. Godelia is a dream come true, a winery in Bierzo that creates value and a future for the region, a heritage through its wines.

The area

Bierzo is a region surrounded by mountains, forming a large valley intersected by the Sil River, with a wide variety of soils in its vineyards. The richness of the soil, combined with the age of the vineyard, makes it a unique place to produce high quality wine. They are committed to growing the native grape varieties; Mencía, Godello & Doña Blanca. Bogegas Godelia’s goal is to transmit terroir, sensitivity and elegance in their wines. Bodegas Godelia is located on the Camino de Santiago route, exactly at the countdown point for the last 200 km, which goes through Bierzo.

The winemaking process

The honor of having excellent raw materials also comes with great responsibility. Bodegas Godelia sees winemaking as an art. This is how they manage to enhance and refine the incredible natural qualities of each grape variety that grows in their vineyards. They work on the philosophy that wine is made in the vineyard, so with great respect for the extra ordinary raw material, they try to intervene as little as possible to let the wine express itself as naturally and honestly as possible. In this way, the wine helps to tell us where it comes from and what it’s like.

The key to success in this complex process is the fruitful coexistence of traditional craftsmanship and the innovative contribution of fresh ideas from their constant research. It’s not about being satisfied until you create a masterpiece, with a healthy amount of excitement, dedication and effort.
